Doretta’s Doll

Medium Impression by Violet Bloom

Doretta Wendt Schutt was born in the Mecklenburg region in Northern Germany in 1840. She emigrated to America and made her way to Springfield, Illinois about a hundred miles from where I live. Doretta, often called “Dora,” married Charles Schutt, also from Mecklenburg, in 1860. I feel they knew each other in Germany. They started a family and made their way to Nebraska. This German doll was manufactured between the 1860s and the l 880s. Doretta may not have played with this doll as a child, but her daughters most certainly did.

Doretta and her husband probably bought this doll for their daughters in a larger city. This beautiful rosy-cheeked doll was well-loved by her family. Doretta and Charles had a large family. I see at 12 children who were born, but at least three did not survive.

Among them was their son Robert, born in 1879. Their daughter Lizzie was born in June 1879 and she did survive. But their daughter Minnie was born prematurely and died in December 1879, only six months after Lizzie. Their daughter Martha may be the last of the Schutt babies born, in 1886 and she also did not survive.

You may think this is far-fetched but I see Doretta dying in childbirth on December 2, 1897. She was 57. I can see the spirits of at least six of Doretta’s miscarried babies·.Had they all lived, including the baby who died with Doretta, there would have been at least 19 children in Doretta and Charles Schutt’s family.

In life Doretta was a strong, stoic, hard-working woman and this is mirrored in her energy after death. I feel tiny sparks of electricity as I type my impression. I can only imagine what I would experience if I were there in person, actually holding the doll.

Doretta’s spirit may be attached to the doll, but so are the spirits of her babies who were born and died, and the spirits of all her unborn, miscarried babies.

There are claims that the apparition of a young girl in a white dress has been seen. This may be the apparition of Doretta as a young girl. In my mind’s eye, I see little white orbs, flashing here and there, representing Doretta’s lost babies. It is likely that the new keeper of this doll, will hear the chatter of disembodied voices, a lot of them children and normal household chaos! I would also expect the sound of children running across a room or down a hall.

Doretta learned English, but she would enjoy being spoken to in German. She will communicate using telepathy, dreams, and a variety of after death communications as you speak to her, including flickering lights, the sounds of lots of children at play, and possibly even the smell of freshly-baked bread. You may be able to ask her Yes/No questions using dowsing rods or candles. It was indeed a pleasure, becoming acquainted with Doretta and her large family. I have a lot of respect for her, having so many children and keeping the household running, and food on the table.
